Feb. 2020 Edition "A Storytender's Journey"

 Welcome
I hope this finds you well and warm! If you haven't gotten my E-Zine in awhile, it's not for lack of trying - we had to switch services last year, and we're hoping our new webhost means a better regular connection with you. Most importantly, thank you for letting me stay in touch once a month - there's a new album and book project about to hit the world, a couple tours coming up, and some workshop and teaching things I'd love to share with you too. It's the word of mouth and grassroots support that keep this crazy journey in words and music going!

If you'd like to help celebrate in person, we have two special concerts coming up - with the band on March 6th in Purcellville VA, and March 19th in central Maryland. It would be special to have you there - ticket info is in the News below. We still have one stubborn open date between Baton Rouge and Houston on Friday March 13th - if you or anyone you know might be interested in hosting a small concert, we will have a magnificent time and the new project will be with me too.

I invite you to come have a spin around the new http://andrewmcknight.net - we have been hard at work fixing broken or missing links, but thanks in advance for dropping a note if you find anything amiss. March's E-Zine will be arrive per usual during the 1st week of the month.

With all of the frenetic energy swirling during this season of love, a winter of no snow, and the precedents of presidents past and future, I hope that you are getting your recommended daily dose of music. I'm grateful for the privilege of sharing some of mine with you.

Treasures in My Chest Updates. The book is off to the printers, and fittingly goes live on Amazon and Barnes & Noble on St. Patrick's Day (3/17). The album is here already, but drops on the digital services like iTunes and Spotify on February 28th. The crowdfunding supporters and preorders are already being set aside for March deliveries. You can catch up on this crazy project drawn from my incredible experiences and connections made exploring my family history, and get Treasures directly from us at the website and have it signed too, OR...

Join us for one of the celebration concerts! Andrew and the recording band will perform at our hometown Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville VA on Friday March 6th (get tickets online here while you still can!). Baltimore/Annapolis/Frederick and central Maryland folks, we'd love to see you at Baldwin's Station in Sykesville on Thursday March 19th. Advance tickets highly recommended here too, and available only by phone at 410/795-1041.

Music Week at the Mountain, April 12-17. Andrew is excited to join Tret Fure and Friction Farm on the staff for a marvelous week in the beautiful southern Appalachians at the Mountain Retreat and Learning Center. Come learn new music and techniques in a gorgeous western North Carolina setting. Focus will be on voice as well as instruments.

Songwriting with Students and Wounded Warriors. Andrew is finishing his third year leading songwriting workshops for middle and high school students as part of the Chords of Courage Step Up! Songwriting Contest. And in June he will join for the third time with Music Therapy of the Rockies at a retreat in rural Maryland, using songwriting and music as mindfulness techniques to help veterans coping with post-traumatic stress (PTSD).

A FEW WORDS: Now that the book is done, Andrew has been updating the Blog, including catching up on some posts from the past few months. He also just took a turn as guest blogger at the Austin Acoustical Cafe website in advance of his March 14th concert - read "Kid at the Carnival" here.

Have you done a DNA test to learn more about your family history? Andrew can help you get the most out of your results, and preserve and share what you've learned - learn about his Ancestories consulting work here.
