Continuing the Next Decade with Elixir Strings

We are thrilled and grateful that Elixir Strings has renewed our Endorsing Artist agreement through the end of 2016. Since starting as an Elixir Endorsing Artist in 2001, Andrew has been thrilled about the sound and longevity on both his Martin MC-68 acoustic and the Fender Stratocaster electric guitar, as well as the improvements made to the strings over the years. Now Andrew's bandmates in Beyond Borders are using Elixirs on many of their acoustic instruments.

Elixir has been busy developing some other great new products for guitarists from across the spectrum, including their new HD Light acoustic strings, blending Elixir light- and medium-gauge strings with a custom .025 gauge third string (a standard light-gauge G string is a .024; the medium is a .026). The specific gauging (.013, .017, .025, .032, .042, .053) creates an ideal tone profile across the bridge, according to Elixir engineer Justin Fogleman. The increased tension of the treble strings improves their articulation, balancing their voice within the mix, he says. The interaction of the tension profile with the soundboard also adds to the harmonic content of the bass strings, creating a warmer, fuller sound.
