Welcome | ||
Here's hoping that this note finds you, and those dear to you, well and safe. These times will be remembered for many things, including a tremendous loss of revered elders and watershed changes in how we go about our lives, now and in the "PV" time - post-vaccine. While some aspects of life will begin to reopen soon, it is a safe bet that crowds will not be gathering for concerts in person any time in the near future and perhaps quite a ways beyond. And thus, I am adjusting my plans accordingly.
The times certainly are a-changing, and what seemed at best improbable just a few weeks ago was that video livestreaming and conferencing would become as commonplace as cell phones. I did my first vidcast in 2009, and I have done several each year since. Last month's concert was far and away my best attended vidcast yet! One silver lining in this sudden burst of popularity is that we have better tools to do things better, and I'm learning how to make more use of them on a daily basis as the world gets more comfortable with the technology too. My primary goal is to better connect with you, dear reader, dear listener, dear human. So this month includes a mix of shorter free concerts and livestreaminars (as I call my video webinars helping you explore family history), and a couple of ticketed full-length concerts beginning tonight - Friday May 1st at 7pm Eastern. I'm using some free platforms like YouTube and Facebook as well as livestreaming (broadcasting) directly through my website and another show on OnlineConcertThing.com. I'm teaching a lot of guitar and songwriting one on one via Zoom and Skype. I'm working to balance giving freely of myself and my work to a hurting world with making up for a lot of lost tour revenue. Something for everyone, hopefully. Something for you, I fervently hope. I'd love to know how you're doing. I'd love to sing for you soon, or share some helpful ideas about how to unlock some of the treasures your ancestors may have left. Maybe I'll see you tonight. Wherever, whenever, I look forward to that. 'Til then and beyond, stay well, stay safe, stay kind. | ||
