Welcome | ||||
First and most important, how are you? I freely admit I don't like this new world, physically sequestered from everyone else. I know that it's temporary, but it's also indefinite, and it will be forever different whenever we get to the other side. Like the rest of the performing arts world, my career is largely on hold and my daily job now is as homeschool parent for a 7th grader. I have gotten her to keep a journal about these days, with a thought that someday her grandchildren might wonder what her life was like now. While we are each coping with this new and frequently-changing reality, I've also been keeping a short daily blog during a "Week of Gratitude" to remind myself of all of my good fortune.
One of those gratitudes is living in a time where technology is available to connect with you face to face from my home to yours. Since literally millions of people are out of work, I am somewhat sporadically using Facebook, YouTube and other platforms to share free livestreams (the sexy new CoronaWorld term for vidcasting, or video webcasting) to maybe bring a few minutes of joy and entertainment into your world. But I also have to confront a rather enormous hole in my own income over these next many weeks, so I'm doing a ticketed livestream on Thurs. April 9th at 7:30pm Eastern via an exciting new platform called Online Concert Thing. Let's help each other get through these uncharted new waters. I'd love for you to sing along, join in the Chat Room and perhaps request a favorite or two, from the new album or my earlier discography. Most of all, we can be together for an hour or two, and I'd like that very much. Speaking of the new album, it and the companion book are here. On disc and paperback, or digitally in 1s & 0s for all devices (note: I can't autograph the latter). Treasures in My Chest was #7 on the Folk Radio charts of the Folk Alliance International for February, and we've had our first 5-star review of the book on Amazon and GoodReads. If you'd like to add your voice to those, thank you! If you'd like to get your own copy, do it directly from the artist at the website. Lots of us have lots of time on our hands right now, and if you'd like to spend some of it working on your genealogy or learning more about the guitar or songwriting, I'd love to connect. Meanwhile, let's keep all of those amazing folks on the front lines of this pandemic in our hearts at all times. In the darkest hour, it is ordinary people who join our hands and help each other rise through the darkness. I am grateful most of all for their heart, dedication and bravery. And to you, for being here. See you soon.
