Andrew maintains a small practice of private guitar students at home in northwestern Virginia. His students range from intermediate to beginner players studying acoustic and/or electric guitar. Since 2010, he has also offered these lessons on a one-time or regular basis via Skype to students anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.

He uses the student's own unique musical interests to highlight important music theory concepts, learn to read tablature and rhythm notation, and optimize the fine motor skills in both hands. He is a very encouraging teacher with lots of great insights into successful practicing and goal setting as well as learning the instrument. Andrew also leads guitar workshops, such as his "First Steps to Flying Fingers", a beginning exploration of picking melodies to traditional American tunes.

Andrew takes a limited number of new in-person and online students - please inquire about availability.

And if you hit this page hoping to learn about Andrew's guitars, his acoustic is a 1991 Martin MC-68, and he also plays a hot-rodded 1976 Fender Stratocaster electric guitar. See them both in action, and learn more about guitar lessons with Andrew in this 5-minute video introduction and overview.
